About Paula
Beyond Hope’s Promise
Inspired by the adoption of her daughter, Hope, from India, Paula returned to graduate school to earn her master’s degree in social work and founded Hope’s Promise in 1990. As a Colorado licensed adoption agency, Hope’s Promise provides domestic adoption and foster care services and has orphan care ministries in Nepal, Vietnam, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
Following her retirement in 2014, Paula and her husband, Ray, embarked on their last great adventure and moved from Colorado to coastal North Carolina where Ray died unexpectedly two weeks later.
Paula faced the loss she didn’t think she could survive during her nineteen-months, set-apart season near the beach after Ray died. There she discovered the presence of God in the wilderness of widowhood and the difference it can make. She writes to inspire hope for the journey in others who have experienced grief and loss.
Paula has seven grown children, four by birth and three by adoption, and is Mimi to ten grands. She lives in the Kansas City area but considers Colorado home. And she gets to the beach as often as she can.
